Charity

As a third-generation family-owned business, giving back to our community is extremely important to us. Periodically, we host trunk shows where a portion of the profits are donated to a charity we support.

The Beginning

In 2013, we hosted the first Lillian C. Millman Mother’s Day Fundraising Event, in honor of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lillian C. Millman. That event benefitted the Noreen Fraser Foundation. We were pleased to donate over $10,000 to the organization, which supports women’s cancer research.

In 2014, the recipient of the Lillian C. Millman Mother’s Day Fundraiser was the Ronald McDonald House, which provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of sick children who are being treated at the Lurie Children’s Hospital. We think that’s a perfect way to commemorate Mother’s Day, and we hope to top 2013 year’s fundraising total.

In 2015, the recipient of the Lillian C. Millman Mother’s Day Fundraiser was the Mark Beban Fund.

Mark Beban Memorial Foundation. Shelle Jewelers, Inc Northbrook, IL

To help honor and remember the life of this remarkable man, the Mark Beban Memorial Fund has been established to raise funds for a permanent memorial in the Village Green Park located in central downtown Northbrook, IL.As a lifelong resident of Northbrook, the Village Green Park represents a central location throughout Mark’s life. The Village Green Park is where Mark and Jenny first met during Northbrook Days, held their marriage ceremony in the gazebo and brought their three kids to play.

From beginning to end, Mark was a very engaged father who never stopped fighting or allowed the cancer to define him. Unfortunately, Mark’s body gave out before his spirit. While we have lost the captain of Team Beban, he is still rooting for all of his family and friends. Mark touched so many people during his 38 years, the Mark Beban Memorial Fund will help us continue to celebrate his life where he loved living it.

Erika's Lighthouse

Depression is the #1 risk factor for suicide and nearly 20% of children will suffer from this illness before they reach adulthood. Although common and serious, 80% of young people with depression are undiagnosed and untreated due to a lack of awareness and pervasive cultural stigma. Erika’s Lighthouse is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and raising awareness about adolescent depression, encouraging good mental health and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health issues. By providing free, effective and teen-centered depression education to middle school and high school communities, Erika's Lighthouse provides hope, eliminates stigma and protects young lives.
